Never Ever Build a Blanket Fort!

My latest children's book with a faith-based theme encourages imaginative play!

In this cause-and-effect style tale (think If You Give a Mouse a Cookie) a brother and sister duo attempt to build a blanket fort. But with each step they take, their structure morphs into something much more medieval! Can they defend it against their furry foes? They'll need the help of some special armor!

"It is not often that a story about a disability is so well done... What an important message to convey to kids right now - 'let’s help others too.'"

What readers are saying about Ada and the Helpers:

"There is a real lack of books where a deaf/HoH character is represented in a fun story that doesn’t focus entirely on the character’s hearing loss journey. Well, Ada and the Helpers is one of these books, and I am so thankful for that... The rhyming is so well done, the ASL is an amazing idea, and the illustrations perfectly complement the story. This book is such a gift to the hearing loss community, as well as to those outside. It is absolutely a new favorite in my home."

and parent of child with cochlear implants

"Not only is this a fun story children will love to read (and remember!), but it is also a very fine lesson about the importance of friendship and helping friends... Very highly recommended."
Grady Harp, Amazon Hall of Fame Top 500 Reviewer
"The book is excellent quality (with a poster dust jacket as a bonus) and the illustrations are gorgeous. The story itself is very cute. The little fox with her CI's just hears with that help (and dances of course!), and the book doesn't make it a big deal. Her friends all have concerns of their own but as they all find out, they can give and receive help all together. I think my grandchildren will like this book a lot."

"What a lovely book following a young hearing impaired fox on her adventure though the forest making friends on her way to a talent show. The ASL words are a great interactive read aloud feature. We love books that showcase differently abled friends and I can't wait to buy this for my school's library!"
